Hi,

It has been a while since I posted, so I thought I'd give an update. Dizzy's, my weekly gig of two years, has come to an end. I'll miss my old spot, especially the duos with Tyler.

I have teamed up with my old friend pianist Alex Levin and his project known as "Sarah King and the Smoke Rings." This group swings! We have future dates which I'll try to get up on the site, and the website is http://www.thesmokerings.com/.

Also, Nick Carver, who produces the podcast "No Idle Frets," has asked to include me in a future podcast. His podcasts, which can be found at www.noidlefrets.com, showcase jazz guitarists. I was excited to be asked and will be on November 14th's show.

All the best, Chad.

A Coming Feature and New Radio Play

Ron Sweetman of CKCU FM 93.1 (Canada), an activist for jazz and blues, has hosted a weekly show called "In A Mellow Tone" since 1976. On June 15th, he will be featuring new jazz releases with an emphasis on guitarists and big bands.
My album,"Sympatico," will be featured along with others, such as Lou Volpe, Cheryl Bailey, Pierre Labbe, and Thad Jones.

I have been lucky to have been played on KSKA 91.1 in Anchorage, Alaska, WCVE 88.9 in Richmond, Virginia, and on other radio stations around the country. WJSU 88.5 in Jackson, Mississippi, recently purchased thirty "Symaptico" cds. Thanks for the support!

I have had some amazing and fun sessions with tenor saxophonist Tyler Sussman. We are hoping to bring our duo synchronicity into a quartet situation soon. All the best, Chad

I am very pleased to say that I have received support in the form of airplay from 88.3 FM WBGO in Newark, NJ, and KJZZ 91.5 FM in Phoenix. I must say that it is a strange and exciting experience to turn on the radio and hear yourself being played, especially knowing the number of people WBGO reaches. Thanks to those who have purchased the CD. Now, let's see some warmer weather.

Hi people,
I have been busy mailing letters and generally trying to promote the new record. This month, selections from the album were played on CBC, Canada's national radio. Katie Malloch played "West 53rd Street Blues" and featured my solo rendition of "Round Midnight," which she described as "gorgeous," on her program "Tonic."
Dizzy's in Park Slope, Brooklyn is still going strong for those who can make it out on Wednesday nights (7:30 - 9:30).
Album Notes

My first album, "Sympatico," is currently at www.OasisCd.com being designed and replicated. I am really hoping to have it out by Christmas, but there are no guarantees. Peter and I received an excellent set of liner notes from Bill Milkowski, which makes the anticipation of getting it out all that much greater. I just couldn't be happier with the sound achieved by Jim Anderson and Alan Silverman, who captured the natural sound of our archtops with impeccably warm precision. I am having the cds printed at 1X speed from a glass master for any other audiophiles. It won't be too long now.... Chad

I am happy to announce that the recording of the album is finished. Jim Anderson has done all of the recording at Avatar Studios, and hopefully we will mix it next week. After that, it will be off to be mastered. There will be eight duets with Peter Leitch and three solo tracks. I have spent the summer building strength in my left hand, and I have been able to return to the gauge of strings that I used to play. I have finally found medication that targets nerve pain and will cover the chronic pain in my left wrist. I am excited about what Peter and I have done and will try to get the album out asap. Happy 7th, Sarah! Bye, Chad

The recording dates with Peter are confirmed, so we will be in the studio soon. I will say that it has been hard for me to adjust to life with chronic pain. The surgeries went a long way towards helping me, but being a guitarist with this kind of injury is a constant battle. I am excited to record with Peter, and Sunday nights at Dizzy's are still going strong.

Some inspiring new projects have come my way. A special event on Oct. 8th is on the calendar page, so please check that out. I have been having a wonderful time at Dizzy's in Park Slope on Sunday nights and want to invite everyone out for a relaxed evening.

I have set my sights on producing on a new recording. It is all conceptual at this point, but I feel that it is high time to make a statement on the guitar. Sarah and I recently recorded three short songs which we have uploaded to our websites. We are very happy with them, so please take a minute to listen. Though I am dealing with residual wrist pain, I am excited about the possibilities ahead. Chad
